Fire, Smoke and Ash are the elements of Basque cooking, depicted here in material form.
Located in the 5 Star Royal Garden Hotel in the Tsim Sha Tsui district of Hong Kong, this Basque Asador Concept restaurant aspires to create an authentic open-flame dining experience for its patrons.
Named ‘Bilbao’, after the city known for the infamous Guggenheim Museum, the design sought to evoke the raw spirit of the namesake city. Bilbao is a former industrial center turned cultural capital. We took the raw aesthetic of the city’s past and applied to the interior of this Michelin Star hopeful restaurant. Rough, charred, and crudely sculpted wood, leather and steel evokes a visceral reaction that complements the open-flame cooking concept.
