Located in the exclusive Lido neighborhood of Beijing, Cafe 27’s design is intended to express an air of ease, comfort and sustainability. The cafe is situated on a site with a two storey concrete building which was redesigned by Four O Nine to house a Whiskey Bar on the upper level. The ground level has been designated for an Italian Restaurant. The cafe itself resides in an existing greenhouse; which has been adapted to reduce the amount of solar gain through a new skin of selfshading louvers. The cafe opens onto an expansive terrace, designed to provide varying levels of privacy, through a pattern of semi-circular shrubs of varying heights.
